I was horridly sick with the flu last week and this is one painting i sat down to do while floating in the haze of pink and white meds. Kind of rougher / more layering of gouache / more allowing paint to do it's own thing. I'm happy!

Inspired by wood panelling and faux gold adornments and 1980's chanel.

Getting older! Hopefully getting wiser too. 23 candles & "It's my party and i'll cry if i want to."
(Well, honestly, i only cry of happiness these days when i'm meditating and saying thankyou to the beautiful earth or looking at the sunrise when it is pink and beyond heavenly.) My perspective on the world has shifted dramatically and i think i'm finally happy. Happy to be alive and to have wonderful opportunities and to spoil myself with stewed apples for breakfast. Being 23 is going to be great, i can just tell.

In March we sit by the seaside

Not a day goes by without the longing to glimpse the ocean at my back door again.
The view out my bedroom window now is simply plain brown bricks and a wedge of blue sky.

Isn't it sad that you spend all your teen years gearing to leave the nest and move to the big city where life is supposed to begin - now that i've found myself there, with my name on a lease and house keys of my own, all i want to do is move back to my parents house with the big windows, my mothers garden, golden sunlight and family dinners. Idyllic. I miss it.
