1940's glamour

1940's glamour
She is out on the town, pretending to be a glamourous movie star.
Real mink,  - perhaps? But then again, maybe not.
Lately i want everything to be emerald green.
Lately I wish i could have hair like Rita Hayworth. Instead, i am a Shirley Temple poodle head.
remedy?

The universe has aligned, finally. This year has been such a flounder, but i finally feel excited about life. I've been working on some projects with really great girls lately, and have alot of work to upload in the next few weeks. I'm also in such a bright mood because I'm finally leaving the nest and moving to Sydney to live with some friends for a while. Perhaps this is when my life is to begin.
Dinner parties and sleepovers and champagne galore! & a real adult life, hooray, Instead of being cooped up in this insular valley in a sad and pathetic tribute to Lux Lisbon.
Perhaps because of this my drawings will take on a new gravity. who knows.

& if anyone is interested, I'm once again trying to shift a wardrobe full of vintage clothing and accessories that i've been hoarding. (eg, a black velvet circle skirt, 1950's and 60's dresses, a polka dot swing skirt, vintage hosiery, Lucille Ball sheet music & vintage bras...)
They are up here on ebay.

p.s. I'll finally be releasing Giclee prints in my new etsy shop sometime this week!
stay tuned. :) & thanks for reading.

Arnsdorf

Clothing by Arnsdorf - my last fashion illo for thevine.com.au!
This collection reminded me of Neapolitan marble cake and a grown up babysitters club.
If only i could fill my wardrobe with this kind of splendour. At least for now, i get to re-create it on paper.

copycatting

Quick Question - What the heck do you do when a korean clothing company steals one of your illustrations to print on their t-shirts?
If anyone reading this has any advice about battling plagiarism, then i would really like to hear from you.

Anabela // Fieldguided

Miss Anabela Carneiro, creator of the blog Fieldguided.

It's always a pleasure to work with people who I admire, so it was a real treat when Anabela asked me to design a header for her Fieldguided blog. I've painted a Minty portrait of her, and her little kit cat Oreo, surrounded by Anabela's most favourite things.
I've been following her blog for quite some time, which showcases her creative endeavours, daily life and love of cats, and  have become smitten by her sweet aesthetics. She is currently running a giveaway of some Sarah McNeil designed cat brooches, so i suggest you hop on over to Fieldguided and check it out.

Diary for Illustration Friday

Diary

Trying out the new coloured pencils that I got for my birthday!
This is my 2nd ever submission to illustrationfriday.com. This week's theme is Diary.
It's a great website where each week a new topic to illustrate is decided upon, and anyone around the world can then post their finished illustration on the site. It's an extremely inspiring pool of talent, and also very helpful in getting you to think about drawing subject matter that you may not have considered before. I suggest you all give it a try!
Every week i plan to draw the designated topic, but life gets in the way, and before i know it, the next topic has already landed in my inbox. get on the ball, caitlin!

Manor House Fiction

Manor House Fiction

All the mirrors broken, all the black cats creeping.
Something I've had as a sketch since last november, and then as a half finished painting since march.
(something has been wrong with my sense of motivation and continuity this year.) So I'm rather happy that is has finally been completed.
Camouflage cat and gossamer butterfly wing corset.
